Gensler Architects design of the iconic 55 storey LA LIVE Ritz Carlton / Marriot Tower included a curved curtain wall with aerofoil style outriggers at each corner. Organic Lighting created the first 277V to 24V ultra low energy LED lighting system precisely illuminating the aerofoils and creating a kinetic lighting scene from stationary LED components.
The precise illumination of the Aerofoils with proprietary lensed LEDs blocks lighting when directly viewed and as the viewer in traffic moves, this creates the image of the lights turning on and off. The effect is further enhanced by the curvature of the upper part of the curtain wall aerofoil.
